He and his mother were taking a bus to Portland, Oregon from Idaho Falls, Idaho where they visited a relative. Shuart reportedly became confused and paranoid. As he walked up toward the freeway, his mother called police. Officers believe Paul may have caught a ride from an eastbound motorist.
